Not all Rock docs explore the inner workings of an artist like this Patti Smith film: 'Patti Smith: Dream of Life.' I got to see it earlier this year when it played the Film Forum here in New York and so I can say, for me, it more than satisfies. Even if you are not familiar with Smith's music, the film will carry you to a place where, if you are into rock n roll at all, you will be lifted higher in spirit.
